Hey there lovelies. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve had so many amazing nuggets of wisdom come into my life and I want to share them with you. Maybe you have some to add of your own or if these have resonated with you- let me know in the comments below.
So the first wisdom nugget is that “It’s all about the Feelings”. I’ve been hearing this or a different version of this for so long and it never really clicked. Finally after the upteenth time, the light bulb in my brain finally went off!
Why is it that sometimes the easiest concepts are the hardest to understand. In just about every self-help or self development book you read it talks about 1. figuring out how you want to feel and 2. figuring out how to feel those feelings now. How the heck do you do that when it seems the world around you is crumbling down, you ask? Visualization is where it’s at. Of course meditation helps with this as well. A trick I like to do especially if I’d had a craptastic day is to look at my Pinterest feed. I have a board saved of images that I absolutely love and looking at them makes me feel really good. And ultimately that’s the goal- to feel good.
I recently shared my thoughts with an amazing friend of mine and she said that Danielle Laporte’s book, The Desire Map is all about feelings and uncovering how you want to feel. And my lovely friend sent me an e-copy of the book and the workbook. I’m working my way through it now and it’s divine. Isn’t it weird that we can look at something or read something and it doesn’t really hold any meaning for us but later on we look again and it totally resonates with us?
Second, maybe you’ve heard it before, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” When I heard that, the first thing that came to mind was comparing myself to others. And of course, anytime you try to compare where you are on your journey with someone else – not good! Just don’t do it…. But then I had a deeper realization that not only is comparison the thief of joy when we compare ourselves to others but also when we compare where we are NOW to where we think we should be. So let’s promise ourselves shall we, that we will stop the comparison and gain back the joy in our lives.
